Lea Green saw the first residential visit for our Y3 children. Y4 were old hands having already experienced a short visit last year.
The children arrived and had a treasure hunt to help them settle in and find their way around the house and grounds. This was followed by the challenge of making their own beds - sheets, duvets and pillowcases all needed putting on correctly!
Wednesday afternoon saw the first big excitement with the team swing challenge. The children (and teachers) braved being hoisted several metres up in the air before releasing the swing and experiencing the buzz of excitement as they flew through the air. Once safely back on the ground, they had various problem solving activities to tackle as a team.
After tea, there was a night hike to Dethick church before back to Lea Green for hot chocolate and bed.
The next day saw the children harnessed up again ready to take on the challenge of the skyline and zip wire. It was quite tricky crossing lots of different wobbly obstacles while suspended in the air but the children became quite adept and rose to the challenge. After lunch, it was time for orienteering, bouldering and buggy riding. That evening, we joined with 3 other schools for a massive game of star ambush which was great fun.
On our final day, the children went up into the woods, lit a fire, toasted marshmallows and built dens. This was the perfect preparation ready for our forest school this month.
A game of earth ball after lunch saw us ready to be picked up by our parents ,very tired but happy!
