Maths
Please follow the White Rose maths lesson links. Choose Y2 or Y3 and continue from the last lesson you completed. Make sure you pause and answer the questions as you go along.
If you have purchased the Power Maths Summer Home Edition Books, please continue with the next lesson in the book. Remember they were also sent to your parents as e-book links if you don't have a print copy.
Power Maths has 3 sections to each lesson. Please look at a single page at a time. Discover has a challenge for you to think about and discuss with an adult. Share then shows you strategies to solve this. Try getting pencil and paper or counters to work through what it shows you. The next two pages are practice pages for you to complete.
Further Maths
Please head over to Active Learn and complete your next Maths Factor lesson.
Year 2: Your activity is on subtracting numbers 1-10 from numbers to 30.
Year 3: Your activity is on the 8 times table.
Extra challenges:
Why not try out the fun problems- Three Ball Line Up or Less is More.
English:
Writing:
For the next few weeks in English we are learning about Legends. Please head over to Active Learn and find the allocation, 'Saint George and the Dragon'. Read this short story thinking carefully about the features of legends.
What do they include that other fiction genres do not?
Make a short list of features and then check how many you thought of using 'Legend Ingredients' in your allocations on Active Learn.
Next, have a go at ordering the sentences to re- tell the story. You can find the document for this below.
Spelling:
Please head over to Purple Mash to access this weeks spellings.
Below you will find the spelling sheets for each year group if you wish to practise your words on paper also.
Grammar:
This week's grammar activities are on Active Learn.
Year 2: Your grammar activity is based on your spelling pattern this week- 'j, g, ge and dge.'
Year 3: Your grammar activity is learning about nouns and pronouns.
Topic:
This week we are beginning a new topic in Topaz class- The Stone Age!
Although the Stone Age was a very very long time ago is history (about 2.6 million years ago!!), we have learnt a lot about this period of history through the famous cave paintings that were left behind.
Take a look at this presentation which tells you all about Stone Age cave paintings. For further information watch this video all about cave art.
Task:
Create a poster answering the question... What can we learn about the Stone Age from cave art?
Think about the animals at that time, how people lived, how they gathered food, what they ate and their beliefs.
For fun you can also have a go at creating your own piece of cave art on Purple Mash.
Science:
Year 2: This week in Science you are learning all about healthy eating.
First look at the presentation below to learn all about healthy eating.
Task:
To create a healthy, varied lunch menu for a new cafe. Think about varying the meals on offer. Remember there is no such thing as unhealthy foods but think about the food we need lots, some or little of when planning your menu. You can access your menu on Purple Mash in your 2Dos.
You may also wish to keep a food journal (see document below) for the week to pay more attention to your diet.
I am trying to eat a variety of foods at the moment as it's easy to stick to the same things. I will keep a journal too and share it on the blog. You can share yours with me on Purple Mash by taking a photograph of it and uploading it to your folder. I'll look forward to seeing your meals- you might inspire me to try some different things!
RE:
This week in RE we are thinking about the question, 'How can we show others that we care?'
Watch the following video and think about the questions below.
1. Who brought the paralyzed man to see Jesus?
2. Have you ever done something kind for a friend?
3. Have you ever shared something with someone who needed it more than you?
4. Why did Jesus heal the paralyzed man? To bring praise to Himself or to honour God?
5. When you do kind things, who deserves the praise for your kindness?
Activity:
Think of one way to show how you can show kindness to others. It could be something you have already done or something you would like to do. Present your work as a picture with a sentence below describing your kind act. You can upload this to Purple Mash in your folder.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
