1st to 5th June Weekly update Y1
We hope you’ve had a lovely half term break, whatever you have got up to together – if you’ve photos to share, please put them on the Blog for us to see!
Here are some ideas for you to have a go at this week:
The Power Maths home learning books will continue to be supported by White Rose and Bitesize materials which are also available if you are not using the book. You can still get plenty of ideas and questions from these places instead.
Phonics for Y1. There are some excellent videos for teaching phonics here. Set 2 will be revisiting the learning of sounds and spellings we already know. Set 3 is new learning and spelling with this sound and is shown at 10.30 a.m.
Year 1 will use the Oak National Academy materials Week 5 English, and they are focussed on an Information text all about a T-Rex, with phonics, spellings and activities linked to the text each day. You’ll only need paper and pencil to take part for the lessons too. These lessons are best followed in sequence, starting with Lesson 1.
There is a spelling quiz for you on Purple Mash.
Write a diary for your favourite days in the week. There is a diary set up in your Purple Mash 2Dos. You can draw a picture or add a photo and write at least five sentences about what you did. If you tap on the green tick at the top right hand corner, there is a writing checklist and on the left, some prompts to help you along.
Practise handwriting everyday, using cursive joins please.
There are some reading comprehensions for you here.
If your child would like to try a different variety for English please take a look at the BBC Bitesize lessons per day for English here.
Our Christian value for this half term is 'Truthfulfulness'. For stories and activities, please click here.
Picture News Activity ideas linked to an issue current in the news.
Take a look at the Eco Activities page and let us know how you get on with one of the activities this week.
Details of a national art competition with an RE focus can be found here.
Outdoor Learning: There is a project called 30 Days Wild from the Wildlife Trust- which runs every day throughout the month of June. Can you do something 'wild' that links to nature every day during June? We'd love to hear about any that you manage to do- why not post a blog about what you have done? See the ideas below for each day.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
