27th April – 1st May
We hope this finds you all well and that you found the activities set out last week fun – I am especially looking forward to seeing some more of the Super Veggies you have been making on the class blog!
Here are a few suggestion for activities you may want to follow along with this week:
This is the last week of the free White Rose worksheets linked to their videos. As of next week Mrs Watkin will be ordering any workbooks you may have requested which will contain lessons linked to the White Rose videos if you need extra support. The Ebook link has been sent to you via email.
Year 1 looks at the final week of fractions before it moves to the BBC aligned timetable you can see here focussed on Addition and Subtraction.
This weeks NRich is focussed on tunnels and tubes to link to the Night Pirates story for the Reception children and exploring triangle pictures for the Year 1. The Extra challenge cards are on the Maths page for the Year 1’s to see too.
Year 1 are also going to trial the Oak Academy materials they are focussed on the story ‘Sam’s Sandwich’ and will share the story and follow questions and quizzes linked to the story, one task each day. They’ll be reviewing a familiar skill of writing a set of instructions following these tasks too. You’ll only need paper and pencil to take part for the lessons too.
Practise handwriting everyday using cursive joins.
Please complete a diary entry for at least one day every week. There is a diary format in your 2Dos. Year 1 children should be writing at least 5 sentences.
Try and do a little reading each day. You can find a selection of on line reading books here.
The activity this week is 'Being a Scientist' by looking for patterns. Look here on our website.
We are starting a new topic called ‘What’s under our feet?’ and we will be learning about …. dinosaurs. But before we start I want you to think about what you know already. Do you know anything already about dinosaurs? Draw some pictures or take a photo of some of your own toy dinosaurs. Then think about what you would like to find out about dinosaurs. Think of a question . Please get an adult to write these down for you and take a photo for the blog. Have a go at this quiz .
There some new, higher level Dinosaur books to explore in your Active Learn.
There’s a new lesson on an Islamic Story to look at for RE this week.
Picture News Activity ideas linked to an issue current in the news.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
