I hope you're all ok this week! I hope you've all still managed to have a nice week despite the miserable, wet weather. I bet you have all had to be creative keeping yourself busy indoors- I'd love to see what you have all been up to on the blog.
I have really enjoyed keeping up with all of your work on Purple Mash and Active Learn. Well done to the children who are uploading their own paper based learning into their folders also. I have seen some fantastic learning! Well done for making such a great effort with everything. I have lots of home learning prepared for you this week. Please feel free to email me on Purple Mash if there is anything that you are unsure of or if it's just to say Hi!
Thank you, Miss Vick
This week we are continuing our work on Traditional Tales. I would like you to have a go at re-telling the story of Hansel and Gretel. Plan your story first either on paper or using the story planning sheet allocated to you on Purple Mash. Think about what happens in the beginning, middle and end of the story. I have allocated you a story writing template for the story of Hansel and Gretel on Purple Mash. Please use the 'think about' box at the side as I have provided you with some useful tips for your writing. I can't wait to read your stories!
Please check your Purple Mash 2Dos for the year 2 and 3 spelling words for this week. Below are the practise sheets if you wish to use them.
Year 2: This week's grammar activity is on using commas in a list. Head over to Purple Mash and look in your 2Do's for the 'Making Lists' activity.
Year 3: This week's grammar activity is about word families. You have to organise a variety of words considering the root word, suffix and prefix. You will find this in your Purple Mash 2Do's.
Please follow the White Rose maths lesson links. Choose Y2 or Y3 and continue from the last lesson you completed. Make sure you pause and answer the questions as you go along.
If you have purchased the Power Maths Summer Home Edition Books, please continue with the next lesson in the book. Remember they were also sent to your parents as e-book links if you don't have a print copy.
Power Maths has 3 sections to each lesson. Please look at a single page at a time. Discover has a challenge for you to think about and discuss with an adult. Share then shows you strategies to solve this. Try getting pencil and paper or counters to work through what it shows you. The next two pages are practice pages for you to complete.
Please head over to Active Learn and complete your next Maths Factor lesson.
Year 2: Your activity on Maths Factor is on adding 8 and 9 to a variety of numbers.
Year 3: Your activity on Maths Factor is on the 4 times table.
Ask your child about their favourite animal and make a list of about 10.
Recap the main animal groups fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals ,by looking through the presentation below. Then decide which group the animals on the list belong to.
Then sort the animals into groups, for example mammals, not mammals or fur and no fur. Ask the children to say how they sorted them into groups, using the features of animals in that group to explain – warm blooded, fur, smooth skin, lives on land / water, lays eggs etc
Complete the Animal Classification quiz on Purple Mash.
Please can you have a go at The Good Vibration Lesson on our Sound topic:
Why not have a go at designing your own sweetie house! In the story of Hansel and Gretel, the evil witch lures the to her house made of sweets. You could design your house on paper and decorate or even make a 3D model using recyclable materials in your home. I have also allocated you a sweetie house to design on Purple Mash.
I can't wait to see your creations!

Last week I introduced the RE competition. This is the final week to have a go at this. I saw one excellent entry last week which outlined, 'Where is God?'.
You have chance to evaluate work submitted by other children and then choose and carry out your own design using the theme of ‘God’s good earth?’ ‘Holy Words!’ or ‘Where is God?’ Check out the RE page for more information.
I would love to see pictures of them on purple mash and if you would like to you could also post your entry as part of the competition.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
