Make an Egg Card
Step 1:
Go to the Active Learn website and login using your username, password and school code.
Step 2:
Select 'Make an egg card' from your allocations and read the instructions to make the egg card. Talk about the type of book, whether it is fiction or non- fiction and notice the features of the text; labels, photos, captions, headings, numbers.
Step 3:
You are going to write your own instructions to make the card. Read an instruction in the book and follow it. Then write your instructions for each stage as you do it.
For example:
1.Think of a title for your writing.
2.Get all the things that you need. If you have not got split pins, use a needle and thread instead.
Write a list of all the things you need.
3.Draw and cut out the circles.
Write the instructions for this stage and continue.
Remember to use bossy verbs in your writing like 'cut', 'get', and 'colour'.
Reception: Say your sentence out loud for each stage and repeat until memorised. Write simple words and sentences using the sounds and high frequency words you know.
Year 1: Remember to use time connectives such as 'First, next, the, after that, finally'
Try to include sub-headings too.
If you like, you can share your cards and instructions on the blog by taking a picture of it and uploading. Have fun!
