Computing week 4

I can sequence events to create a story narrative.

Run the ‘Haunted House 4 – Story’ project from the link shared at the bottom of this page. Can you
identify the new features or changes made? These include new backdrops/scenes, character speech
and a story ending. Briefly look at some of the code added to make the story sequence work. What
blocks are important to making the events work in sequence?

Using the Story Planner Activity Sheet, children work to plan ideas for the next story scenes.

What could be used to trigger the change of a backdrop? Recap how to use the arrow button and ‘Broadcast’ block, along with ‘switch backdrop’ block. Show examples from the ‘Haunted House 4 – Story’ script.

Look at examples of speech bubbles, using the ‘say’ block and note how the use of a ‘wait’ block can ensure the correct timing of a conversation to move the story on.

Can you use appropriate blocks to sequence a story narrative?
