Hi Emerald class
Welcome to week 3 of summer term! Let’s keep hoping the warm sunshine will return soon! I can see how busy some of you have been. Keep it up and keep posting on the blog and sending emails to let us know what you've been doing and showing us your work.
Remember the Emerald Class children in school in our key worker group are doing the same learning as you in school. Because Mrs McElhattan and I are working with that group, Mrs Gale is helping us to check out some of your home learning on Purple Mash.
This week, check out the design a game challenge on purple mash – see the computing section below.

Please follow the White Rose maths lesson links. Choose Y4 or Y5 and continue from the last lesson you completed. There will be 5 Maths lessons uploaded each week. There are questions included in the videos so do these as you go along then use the questions included in the Power Maths Summer Home Edition. Your parents have been sent a link to the ebook and lots of you have a print copy too.
NEW As well as the power maths book, there are some extra sheets which match up with this week's White Rose Activity. Find them HERE.
Extra challenges
Check the Maths pages. I see Maths offers daily reasoning challenges with a video to watch and a sheet to complete. Just don't peek at the answers on sheet two until you have given the challenges a good go. Maybe try one or two a week. You have also been allocated Maths factor lessons on Active Learn and some challenges on Purple Mash if you are looking for extra maths practice. Please prioritise the White Rose and Power Maths lessons as they stay in line with what we would have learned in school.

Computing
You have 2 weeks to have a go at the Design a game competition on purple mash. When you log onto purple mash, you will find everything you need in the Design a game section under the purple featured bar down the right hand side. I have allocated the game 2DIY3D to you but please check out all the help videos in the Design a Game section. You can keep coming back to your game and working on it but when you finish, please share it to the global display board. Choose the individual one if you have worked on your game by yourself or the family one if it has been a joint effort. Make sure you don’t include any personal information in the game or it will not be approved by the Purple Mash team.
Topic
We’re continuing with our What is Under our feet topic this week. Step 6 is to continue to investigate Skara Brae. Click here to find some information and the instructions. This week, your task is to write a leaflet about Skara Brae. This is something you need to write in detail (at least 6 paragraphs) so I am giving you two weeks to finish this. This is the second week so please get your leaflets finished and uploaded by Friday 19th June.
PE
Go to the Physical activities pages for lots of great ideas. This week’s challenge on the weekly update features cricket. There is a new challenge for each day all using materials you will find at home or in an outdoor space nearby if you are able to get outdoors.
R.E.
This week, I would like you go back to our investigating Judaism topic and watch a video to find out about the Jewish Sabbath or Shabbat. Then write an email to a friend describing what you would do if you visited a Jewish friend on their Sabbath day. Check out Investigating Judaism page.
If you have not already looked at it, maybe have a go at the national RE and art competition. You have chance to evaluate work submitted by other children and then choose and carry out your own design using the theme of ‘God’s good earth?’ ‘Holy Words!’ or ‘Where is God?’ Check out the RE page for more information.
I would love to see pictures of them on purple mash and if you would like to you could also post your entry as part of the competition.
Time to discuss
Mrs Wilson is posting all the picture news discussions onto the collective worship and discussion pages. This week's picture is focused on thinking about how we should learn to manage money. Have a look at the picture and may be have a chat with your family about their opinions. We'll be discussing it in school on Wednesday. Or why not check out the Fischy youtube channel. They stream a collective worship every week and all your favourite collective worship songs are also up there.
We hope you and your families are all well. Keep busy and keep in touch everyone. Hopefully we'll be back together again soon.
