NSPCC Number Day 2023
The best things come to those who wait...
We had to delay our Number Day by almost a week from the National Event but it was worth the wait!
The children were sent in classes around all four classrooms taking part in a diverse range of activities with each teacher. In Amethyst class they got to take part in some of the NRICH Roadshow activities, each focussing on logic, pattern finding, creativity and problem solving. In Topaz they were treated to a whirlwind of Time, learning through song, longic puzzles and bingo. Over in Emerald the children explored the Frog Jumping Investigation from NRICH, all through the school they began to push their mathematical knowledge and thinking. Finally in Sapphire class they explored the concept of 2D and 3D shapes, stretching to nets and 3D creations for the older children.
The children all looked very Mathematical on arrival, many sporting their favourite numbers too. After lunch Mrs Watkin led the school through the NSPCC Primary Assembly materials exploring the work of the charity and how the money raised from Number Day goes to help those in need.
Thank you for all of your donations and support today, we hope the children have taken away lots of great memories too,
Mrs Phipps
