Learning Objective: Using a glossary to understand technical words.
In today's lesson we are exploring what a glossary is? To prepare for today's lesson, see if you can find some books which include glossary's and see if you can see why they include glossary's?
A glossary is a list of words and what they mean.
They are usually found at the end of a book or report that uses hard words to read or special words.
Three rules of a glossary:
- Alphabetical order
- Bold Text
- Definitions
Have a look at screen 4 of the 'Growing Chocolate' book. See if you can spot the bold words, click on them and their definitions will appear.
Independent Activity
To write definitions for your own glossary for chocolate, cacao bean, milk and cocoa mass.
Challenge: Discuss which order they would go in if we put them in alphabetical order.
