-Imagine that your are a museum curator and you have been given an ancient chest from Nigeria near a forest where the kingdom of Benin used to exist. It has never been opened and you are the first person in over 1000 years to find out what has been so tightly locked away in this chest. What could be inside? Use the 'In the chest' sheet to draw and describe what you think could be inside the chest. Why have you chosen this object?
-Now look at lesson slide 7 to reveal what was actually found inside the chest. Can you tell what it is? Write a list of at least 3 questions you have about the object.
- Use the Benin bronze photo pack to recreate your own piece of art. You could even create a piece of jewellery out of paper or card inspired by the art work you have seen in this lesson.
