Over the last few weeks the children have been working on Green, Eco friendly decorations for our Christmas tree display at St Mary's church, Chesterfield. The festival has grown every year and exhibits a range of creative and beautiful trees from a range of organisations across Derbyshire.
This year will include a tree from our pupils, themed our being Environmentally friendly. Reception and Year 1 have recycled unwanted carrier bags to make beautiful pom poms and newspaper paper chains. Year 2 and 3 children designed snowmen from yoghurt pots and decorated tree cookies. Year 4 and 5 made wool and stick weaving designs into crosses and Year 6 used buttons and corks to make beautiful hanging decorations.
We hope you all get a chance to see the trees, the festival is open from Saturday 16th Nov to Sunday 1st December with a variety of events on in between, including a choir and musical performance on November 30th from the NEDMC, 2-4pm.
We'd like to make a special thank you to Mrs Wilford and Mrs Shaw for setting up the tree on Friday, you've done a beautiful job, thank you.
